Winter Blast - February 1-2

Posted on Jan 14 2020 - 1:29pm

Register here for Winter Blast the weekend of February 1-2.  The cost is $25 per person, which includes food, lodging, and lots of fun.  What a deal!!
Your den leader or any leader can also take RSVPs and accept checks or cash, and Paypal is another option.

This year we have again reserved the same sixty bunk Trout Lake Cabin at D-Bar-A.  It features indoor plumbing, men's & women's bathrooms, and showers.  This is as good as it gets in the Michigan Crossroads Council! 8-)  As long as we keep filling the bunks, we will be able to stay in this wonderful, extra large cabin.  Don't wait- Register now!!  All family members are encouraged to come.  My two Boy Scouts have insisted that they be allowed to come- no kidding.

As always, the pack will provide Saturday dinner, "cracker barrel" snacks later in the evening, and a grab-n-go breakfast Sunday morning.

This year we will once again rock our five-way-chili entree and also add in a sloppy joe option.  It just keeps getting better and better!  If your scouts eats at all, he should have no problem finding something on which to gorge himself at dinner time.

We have several potential activities, based on interest level:
  • Horseback riding
  • Sledding (weather permitting, come prepared with a helmet and sled)
  • Rocketpalooza (a backup plan to sledding)
  • Ice fishing (ice permitting)
  • Hiking (we will keep right this time!)
  • Capture the Flag and all other kinds of free time fun in the outdoors-- the scouts really thrive on the fresh air at camp
  • As much campfire and s'mores as you can handle
  • Board games, cards, and other indoor fun as time permits
  • Potentially ping pong as space and noise level permit
There are also a few variations on fitting the weekend's fun around your availability:
  • You can arrive Friday night (usually a small, funloving group that gets the run of the place and gets a great night's sleep in actual beds in a heated cabin)**
  • You can arrive Saturday after lunch (most folks do this)
  • You can arrive Friday or Saturday and leave Saturday night (a few sometimes choose to do this after dinner if there are scheduling conflicts back in town)**

** Often, the parents and scouts stop somewhere nice to eat Friday evening on the way up, and Saturday morning outside the ranch for breakfast.

Carnival - January 16 @ 7:00pm

Posted on Jan 14 2020 - 1:29pm

We will start promptly at 7:00 in the Amerman Gym.  Carnival! will serve as our January pack meeting.

Our Bear Den 8 is working on games for the event, and we will also include a few favorites from last year.  Game tickets will be for sale at $0.50 apiece, and prizes will be available for a wide range of token prices.  Bring the whole family (siblings are invited to participate, as well) and enjoy letting off a little winter steam!  Note: Tickets are twice the price this year but tokens are worth twice as much, too, so the prices are the same and we will not need to order as many paper tickets or circulate as many tokens- thanks to our fearless Treasurer Scott!

Pinewood Derby Workshop - January 15 @ 8:00pm

Posted on Jan 14 2020 - 1:27pm

If you need some help or the use of some tools, bring your kit and your scout to the MPR for this informal workshop.  We'll help you give your derby car a jump start!

USA Hockey Night

Posted on Nov 18 2019 - 7:06pm

The hockey tickets have been purchased.  I will let you know when they get here.  Note: you can still show up at the USA Hockey arena next Saturday for the $5 price (bring your scout in uniform) but I cannot guarantee that you will be able to sit with us.  I'm thinking I can distribute tickets at the parade unless you won't be there- please let me know if you need to make alternate arrangements.
